The Film Thirteen Portrays The Chaotic Lives Of Two Thirteen
The film Thirteen portrays the chaotic lives of two thirteen year olds, Tracy and Evie. In the beginning of the movie, Tracy was an overall good daughter, friend, and student, until Evie stepped into the picture and turned her good habits into detrimental ones. The two girls became an unstoppable duo and caused a disorderly impact on those around them. From disrespecting her own mother and motherââ¬â¢s boyfriend every day to robbing money off of her motherââ¬â¢s clients and strangers at the mall, Tracyââ¬â¢s behavior became identical to Evieââ¬â¢s. In one scene, Tracy even goes out of her comfort zone to impress Evie and her friend by snatching a strangerââ¬â¢s wallet and exchanging that money between the three of them to go shopping (Hardwicke, Reed, Levy-Hinte, London, 2001). Not only does Tracy get involved in robberies, she also experiments with drugs and sex. Based on empirical findings, teenagers who associate with others who are involved with risky behaviors, such as substance use and violence, are more prone to participating in those activities themselves (Prinstein, Boergers Spirito 2001). Similarly to these findings, Evieââ¬â¢s bad drug habits take a toll on Tracy as well. Tracy picks up on smoking cigarettes, snorting cocaine, and getting a buzz off of a can of hairspray all because Evie influenced her to.
